It would be great if the favicon feature supported the svg format.

Hi there,

Not sure about .svg, cause apple-touch-icon and Android doesn't support SVG icons. I think the better one will be to add support for .png and remove .ico

By uploading a favicon in png with size 512x512px it will be possible to use 1 icon everywhere, from browser to devices

<link rel="icon" href="/favicon.png" sizes="32x32">
<link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="/favicon.png">
<link href="/manifest.json" rel="manifest">
‌

‌
// manifest
{
  "icons": [
    { "src": "/favicon.png", "type": "image/png", "sizes": "192x192" },
    { "src": "/favicon.png", "type": "image/png", "sizes": "512x512" }
  ]
}

realfavicongenerator.net/
used this service it makes perfect. There you upload one photo and the service makes all the necessary options so that the favicon works perfectly on all devices.
The webmanifest is also generated

This is the code that gives:
<link rel="apple-touch-icon" sizes="180x180" href="/apple-touch-icon.png">
<link rel="icon" type="image/png" sizes="32x32" href="/favicon-32x32.png">
<link rel="icon" type="image/png" sizes="16x16" href="/favicon-16x16.png">
<link rel="manifest" href="/site.webmanifest">
<link rel="mask-icon" href="/safari-pinned-tab.svg" color="#5bbad5">
<meta name="msapplication-TileColor" content="#da532c">
<meta name="theme-color" content="#ffffff">
