Remember me

Google Search doesn't show the big images, only the thumbnails

Google Image Search shows only some thumbnails, but never the big images. Clicking on a thumbnail ultimately leads to the thumbnail overview page, not to the associated big image.
  • Example - Search term to see/try the issue: kuhnlein nuernberg pop art
  • Example - Search result: Screenshot (1)

Also, you should know that I modified the thumbnail and big-image folder system because of the huge amount of pictures and the special wishes of the site owner. See the screenshots (2) and (3) below.

What I've done so far:
I tried to write an images-sitemap.xml. But I don't know how to fill the <loc> tag and the <image:loc> tag correctly. Currently I filled both <loc> tags with the same url, but this didn't help for Google.
  • Example: Sitemap section
<url>
<loc>https://a-dezign.de/index.php/galerie-artwork?nuernberg-1</loc>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://a-dezign.de/index.php/galerie-artwork?nuernberg-1</image:loc>
</image:image>
</url>

The url a-dezign.de/index.php/galerie-artwork?nuernberg-1 leads to the big image, but Google doesn't use/process it.

What did I do wrong?
What should I do better?

Many thanks for your help.

Hi there!

1. As I can see, Google indexed Gallery pictures only from "Home Page". Pictures on the page "Artwork Galerie" are not indexed

Check this link: www.google.com/search?q=site:https://a-d...528&biw=1920&bih=969

2. Regarding the sitemap.

Should be like
<url>
    <loc>https://a-dezign.de/index.php/galerie-artwork?nuernberg-1</loc>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://a-dezign.de/images/bilder_artwork/01_neuheiten/nuernberg_1.jpg</image:loc>
    </image:image>
  </url>

My personal recommendation. Share pictures on social networks - Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter. Social networks it's a powerful boost for indexing B)

Artem,
many thanks for your quick help! :)
I should have figured it out myself because of the meaning of "<image:loc>". :oops: I am already adjusting the sitemap.

I will pass on your social media recommendation to the owner.

Just one more question:
The owner filled the description panel with informations and keywords, hoping Google would read them. I suggested to use tags, but he didn't like them.
Can Google read the description panel text if the pages are implemented correctly in the new sitemap?
Or are tags better for SEO?

I'm not sure about what kind of tags you talking about. Could you please provide more details about them :)

This will do.
Or are tags better for SEO?
Tags are no longer needed. Question canceled.

Have a nice day!
