Now I want to update, so use thumbs on random grid, but how should I proceed without losing things

2. We set 50% of quality for thumbnails (play with this option to get the best between speed and quality )

Do I have to recreate the thumbs when change Quality %?

No, you need just to set % and click Save.
Thumbnails will be automatically re-created
