Email Recipient: not receiving any notifications

Hi, just purchased Forms and I must say that it is impressive. I set up a test form and filled in the fields in settings how ever when I tested the form from the front end and submitted, I received no notification email. I tested 2 different emails so far. Any ideas on what I can do please?

Maybe you missed anything in the settings or did not add the e-mail field.

Thanks for the reply, I just checked and the email field is being used. I get no notification email once I click submit and see "Congratulations!
Your message was sent successfully!"

I tried gmail and our work email so far. Any ideas on the way forward please?

Hello,

Email system in your Joomla is configured?
Go to: Joomla admin >> System >> Global Configurations >> Server. Click on the button "Send test email"

Hi and thanks for the reply, the fault was indeed from the joomla settings. One last question please, Test Mail was not working with the PHP Mail setting from the drop down menu. Once I switched it to Sendmail, it did. Is there a fundamental difference between the options?

Also, I got PHP Mail to work by downgrading the PHP version from 7 to 5.6
