I have added an email address field, but do not want to make it required. If someone does enter a value, I want it to be validated, but not required. It won't let me unselect the required option. It gives me the red circle with the line through it.
The administrator has disabled public write access.
For the field type: email, this is not possible.
You can select mail validation for the field type: input,
but then sending letters to the client will not work.
